Society of Vertebrate Paleontology comments on the “Temporary Prohibition on Excavation of Paleontological Resources” Administrative Action for Shu’tu’ba’/Espinosa Ridge (San Felipe Pueblo, New Mexico)

In February 2025, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) invited comment on a proposal for temporarily prohibiting fossil excavation at Shu’tu’ba’/Espinosa Ridge, adjacent to San Felipe Pueblo, New Mexico.  SVP reviewed the final proposed plans and sent a letter of comment to BLM expressing our concerns and recommendations for certain aspects of the proposed action (by U.S. Postal Service mail) on February 3, 2025.  SVP’s comment letter can be found here.
