“What’s In a Name Documentary” (WIND) Screening during Wednesday’s Welcome Reception
Attendees of the Welcome Reception on Wednesday, October 30 will get the chance to view the “What’s in a name documentary” (WIND) which captures a collaborative journey between the University of Wisconsin-Madison Geology Museum (UWGM), Tribal students, officials, and Elders of the Wind River Reservation, underscoring the importance of Indigenous knowledge, representation, and the need for decolonizing practices in the geosciences and beyond. WIND is co-produced by the UWGM, Whispering Rivers Media, and Bravebird Productions. Screenings will be held at 7:20, 8:00 and 8:45pm in the Omnitheater, next to the lobby.

Tour the Science Museum of Minnesota’s Exhibit Shop on Wednesday
During the Welcome Reception, the Science Museum of Minnesota’s own exhibit fabrication team will provide short tours (about 30 minutes) through their fabrication space. Hear about their traveling exhibit, Ultimate Dinosaurs, and come see what they’re prototyping and building for other museums. Tours are limited to 30 people each, so please sign up at the Google Spreadsheet here. Each tour will meet at the Exhibits table in the lobby.

“WHY DINOSAURS?” Film Screening on Thursday – Reserve Your Ticket Today
We’re excited to announce the award-winning documentary “WHY DINOSAURS?” will be screening on October 31 at the SVP Annual Meeting hotel in Minneapolis. The film follows dino-obsessed youth James Pinto and his filmmaker father on a journey around the globe, interviewing world-renowned paleontologists, digging up 150 million-year-old bones, and encountering dinosaur fanatics of all walks of life. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Co-Writers/Directors Tony & James Pinto, Dr. Kiersten Formoso, Keegan Kuhn (TRX Dinosaurs), and others featured in the film.
