Release of SVP Mitigation Paleontology Guidelines

SVP is pleased to announce the release of its “Best Practice Guidelines for Mitigation of Adverse Impacts on Paleontological Resources”. This document was drafted by a number of SVP members, including members of SVP’s Government Affairs Committee (GAC), and follows some other SVP’s best practice guidelines, such as “Best Practice Guidelines for Repositing and Disseminating Contextual Data Associated with Vertebrate Fossils” and multiple guidelines related to the handling of “Myanmar Amber”, available HERE.

Although these best practices are meant as guidelines, SVP expects its members to be aware of these professional standards, while the Society will periodically review and revise them as needed because recommended best practices may evolve. Any comments on the new and previous SVP’s best practice guidelines should be addressed to SVP’s GAC at svp@vertpaleo.org with a subject line “SVP Best Practice Guidelines.”
