With deep sorrow I inform to the palaeontological community of the untimely death of Professor Óscar J. Polaco, tireless researcher in Palaeontology, Archaeozoology and other areas of biology, kind teacher and role model for countless generations of Mexican biologists, extraordinary human being, who, regardless of his physical limitations, was always willing to help those who requested it, tireless traveler, excellent scientific writer and disseminator, colleague, and above all, the best friend, who left with his passing away an enormous empty space in the Mexican biological sciences that will be very difficult to fill.
Rest in peace.
