About the Society Awards Past Award Winners 2015 Awardees 2015 (Taylor & Francis Award) 2nd Place - Lauren Sallan

Lauren Sallan is a paleoichthyologist who studies the ecological, environmental and developmental drivers of macroevolution in fishes. Aside from her descriptive work, Lauren uses “Big Data” methods to mine the fossil records of Paleozoic vertebrates and ray-finned fishes. Her research has revealed novel evolutionary processes and past events, such as the near elimination of vertebrates at the end-Devonian extinction. Lauren completed her PhD at the University of Chicago, and was a Michigan Fellow before starting as an Assistant Professor of Earth and Environmental Science at the University of Pennsylvania.
