Tetsuto Miyashita

I grew up in a suburb of Tokyo but left home for Canada at age 16 to pursue a career in paleontology. Settling in Drumheller, Alberta, I had an opportunity to volunteer at Tyrrell Museum. I followed Philip Currie’s move to the University of Alberta in 2005, and have stayed there for three degrees under two mentors: Philip on one side, and the evolutionary biologist Richard Palmer on the other. Over these years, I developed interests in invertebrates and developmental biology, which I continue to pursue at Friday Harbor Laboratories (Washington) and the Marine Biological Laboratory (Massachusetts).
