About the Society Awards Past Award Winners 2012 Awardees 2012 (Lanzendorf PaleoArt Prize) Scientific Illustration - Robert Laws

Robert Laws studied at the University of London, Goldsmiths College, where he gained a BA Honours Degree in Fine Art. His commissioned work includes portraiture, landscape and still life painting. Over the past seven years Robert has had the opportunity to collaborate with the Natural History Museum, London U.K. on a number of scientific illustrations which have been utilised in a range of journals and publications. These have included ink images of fossils such as, Jinzhousaurus yangi, Eustreptospondylus oxoniensis, and Chinshakiangosaurus chunghoensis. In addition, Robert has prepared reconstructions of dinosaurs and other reptiles in their environments including Psittacosaurus and the Middle Jurassic turtle Eileanchelys.

Robert intends to continue in this interesting area of work, widening his base of experience to other areas of scientific illustration. He enjoys working with the team at the Natural History Museum in London and would like to expand this connection with the paleo scientific community and other institutions around the world.

He would like to thank the judges of this award for selecting his work for this prestigious prize which he considers to be an important honour in recognising the work that he has produced to date.

Robert can be contacted at and on facebook.
