SVP & Paleo News
February 18, 2008
Dear Member of SVP,

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is currently welcoming symposium proposals for their 2009 annual meeting, scheduled for February 12-16, 2009 in Chicago.

The theme for the meeting is "Our Planet and Its Life: Origins and Futures," and was chosen explicitly to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth and the 150th anniversary of the Origin of Species. This is a fantastic opportunity for the paleontological community to celebrate recent advances in our field and to take advantage of the phenomenal media and political attention that this meeting receives.

Applications are due April 28th and further information is available on the AAAS Web site.

The Paleontological Society has funding available to support AAAS (and other conference) programming. If you're interested in applying for this funding and/or would like assistance in submitting an application to AAAS, please let me know.

Sincerely,
Rowan Lockwood
Paleontological Society Program Coordinator
