Abstracts are now being accepted for the SVP 68th Annual Meeting. These presentation specifications are provided for individuals making technical and poster presentations at the 2008 SVP meeting. Please review these specifications carefully.
ALL presentations must conform to these specifications so that the meeting flows smoothly and flawlessly. We're going to have a great meeting, and I look forward to seeing you there.
Sincerely,
Jason Head

Submissions were accepted in the following categories:
Submission and Presentation Guidelines:
Regular Sessions
Abstracts are accepted for oral and poster presentations in the following categories:
Colbert Award (formerly the Student Poster Prize)
See the Edwin H. and Margaret M. Colbert Award page for all information regarding the award.
Romer Prize Session
The Romer Prize Committee of the SVP 68th Annual Meeting will accept a maximum of 16 submitted abstracts for competition in the Romer Prize Session. Students whose abstracts were not selected for participation will be given the option of having their abstract either considered for a regular session or withdrawn from the program.
Preparators’ Session
Preparators’ Session abstracts are reviewed by the Preparators’ Committee.
Adherence to Guidelines
Feedback from previous meeting evaluations has indicated a need to reinforce presentation and poster preparation guidelines. Please review and adhere to the guidelines in this section.
Abstract Submission Guidelines
Abstracts will be accepted online only via www.vertpaleo.org starting March 18, 2008, at NOON Central Time Zone USA. Authors can visit their abstract and make any revisions they wish until the deadline of May 21, 2008, at NOON Central Time Zone USA.
If you are unable to submit your abstract via the Web site, contact the SVP Business Office at: Phone: 847/480-9095, Fax: 847-480-9282 or e-mail: svp@vertpaleo.org.
Author Submission Policy
Only ONE (1) first-authored abstract per person will be considered for review. This does not preclude the inclusion of an individual's name on other, jointly-authored abstracts. SVP will enforce this policy, regardless of whether the presentations are in a symposium or regular session.
A maximum of FIVE (5) authors, one (1) primary and a maximum of four (4) secondary authors will be permitted for all abstracts. This will be strictly enforced.
Abstract Submission Format
Abstracts are limited to 2,200 characters (including spaces and punctuation), excluding title and authors.
All other specific information regarding abstract submission can be found on the SVP Abstract Submission Site when it opens March 18.
PRESENTATION GUIDELINES
Click here for the presenter audio-visual instructions and requirements. It is critical that you follow the specific guidelines when preparing your presentation.
Both PC and MAC platforms will be available for presenters.
All oral presentations must be made using Powerpoint® or Keynote®. Presentations must be loaded in the Speaker Ready Room at the annual meeting when you arrive at the meeting. Slide carousels and overhead projectors will not be available at the 2008 SVP Meeting.
Special Presentations
Abstracts submitted for symposia, the Romer Prize, the Student Poster Prize and the Preparators' Session are subject to the same timetable and review criteria as regular submissions.
Please note that we will be enforcing the long-standing SVP policy of accepting only one first-authored presentation per person regardless of whether it is in a symposium or regular session.
Formatting and content criteria apply to all abstracts submitted for the 2008 meeting, including invited symposium and preparators abstracts.
Speaker Ready Room
It is strongly recommended that all presenters practice their presentation in the Speaker Ready Room prior to their talk. One speaker ready room will be available during the meeting. Space and practice equipment will be limited.
Poster Presentation
In order to achieve the best exchange of ideas and information, authors are asked to be present at their posters when the viewing sessions are unopposed by platform sessions. Four poster sessions will be offered this year. View the 2008 Poster Schedule. You will be notified by the Program Committee this summer of acceptance and the poster session to which you are assigned.
One horizontal poster display board is provided for each presenter. Each unframed board measures approximately 8' wide and 4' tall (243.88 cm x 121 cm). Boards may be one inch (2.54 cm) smaller in either direction.
Display boards are double-sided and will be shared by two presenters, one on each side. Due to space constraints, no table or electrical outlets can be provided for poster presentations.
Boards are covered with a cloth material that will hold Velcro tabs and long tacks. Velcro will give you the best results for hanging your display. Use the "male" or hook side of the Velcro on your display.
You must bring your own materials for attaching illustrations to the boards (Velcro, tacks, etc.). Additional items, such as electrical power and audiovisual equipment, will not be provided.
View the 2008 Poster Schedule.
Poster Removal: It is essential that presenters clear their poster board promptly and within the schedule. Materials left on a poster board after the removal deadline will be discarded.
SVP is not responsible for materials left behind, lost, stolen or damaged.
As a courtesy to other presenters, do not move or remove poster numbers or change the order of the assigned poster boards.
