Win a Terataphoneus replica for your school on National Fossil Day with SVP

October 7, 2017

For National Fossil Day, SVP will be hosting tables on the Mall in Washington, DC. Our theme will be paleontology at National Monuments, with a focus on Grand Staircase-Escalante’s fabulous Late Cretaceous record. We will be giving out Beasts of the Grand Staircase trading cards, designed by David Orr of Blue Aster Studio, and toy Diabloceratops and Nasutoceratops from Safari, Inc. Best of all, we will hold a drawing for a school (K-12 or university) to win a museum-quality replica of the tyrannosaur Teratophoneus produced by Gaston Design. All of these animals are best known from the Late Cretaceous units of the Kaiparowits Plateau, where work is threatened by the ongoing review of the status of National Monuments that were established since 1996.

Visit SVP’s booth between 10 am and 2 pm on October 11 to learn more about paleontological
resources at the monuments, to enter your school in the drawing, and to chat with Cathy Forster, Tom Holtz, Nancy Stevens, Eric Lund, and other SVP volunteers. You can find our booth along with ones from BLM, National Parks, George Washington University, and other organizations between the Smithsonian Castle and the National Museum of Natural History.

The event is being organized by the National Park Service. Our give-aways are possible thanks to generous donations by several SVP members, Gaston Design, and Safari, Inc., and SVP’s Legacy League Fund.
